Notes:

This match marks the first time Canada and Ghana will face one another in U-20 competition.

The sides are two youngest in the tournament. Ghana’s squad has an average age of 18 years and seven months,
compared with 18 years and nine months for Canada.

Canada’s best ever finish at a U-20 Women’s World Cup was in 2002, when it was known as the U-19 Women’s World Championship, where they finished second. Canada has not returned to the knockout stage of the tournament since 2004.

Ghana is the second African team to take part in three editions of the U-20 Women’s World Cup. In their most recent outing in 2012, they lost all three of their matches without scoring.

Defender Kylie Davis is the only Canadian player with previous U-20 Women’s World Cup experience, which came in 2012. She played in two matches.

Midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe is sister of Elizabeth Cudjoe, Ghana’s top goalscorer at the U-20 Women’s World Cup. The elder sister scored three goals in three games during the 2010 edition of the tournament.

Canada’s overall record at the U-20 Women’s World Cup is 9W-2D-8L.

The home country has a favourable track record against African opponents at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, with two wins and one defeat.

Ghana booked their berth to Canada by defeating Equatorial Guinea on penalties in the decisive third qualifying round.
