The U-20 Women’s World Cup is quickly approaching. As a result, head coach Andrew Olivieri will get another look at his group of players with a 10-day camp in Burnaby starting on Saturday.
The camp includes two closed-door friendly matches against Korea Republic on June 7th and June 10th.
Their busy schedule will continue from there. They’ll have another camp in Vancouver from June 24th to July 10th and their final camp in Mexico July 16th to July 21st.

The Canadian roster for the current camp features a number of players with senior squad experience: Kadeisha Buchanan, Rebecca Quinn, Ashley Lawrence and Nichelle Prince. It also includes 10 players currently suiting up in the W-League for their respective Canadian clubs.
Jessie Fleming, who has also played for the senior side and was a standout at the U-17 Women’s World Cup, will be sitting out this camp as she focuses on her studies. Her absence opens up a spot in the midfeld. It will allow coach Olivieri to take a closer look at Calgary’s Sarah Kinzner, who also had a solid showing at the U-17 Women’s World Cup earlier this year.
Forward Summer Clarke declined her invitation.
Canada’s opening match at the U-20 Women’s World Cup is August 5th versus Ghana in Toronto. An interesting note to pass along is that Ghana will be training in Calgary during June and July, as they prepare for the tournament.

Northern Kick 
Another sibling combo enters the Canadian soccer scene, as Janine Beckie is the sister of Drew Beckie of the Ottawa Fury who was on the last Canadian men’s Olympic team.
The whole family is ridiculously impressive when it comes to sports. All four siblings have played soccer at a collegiate level. Throw in mom or dad and they’ve got a futsal team!
